Cristian L. Paredes is a sociologist who studies ethnic and racial issues, immigration, and social inequality in the U.S. and Latin America. His scholarship integrates theoretical and analytic insights from U.S. sociology and demography with interdisciplinary and international perspectives on ethnicity, race, inequality, and culture. His most recent work explores the social significance of fear of crime in Central America, and trust in a variety of institutions in different Latin American countries. Dr. Paredes was born and grew up in Lima, Peru. He has lived in the United States since 2003.
