Full-Disk Encryption

Full-disk encryption is a reliable method for securing the contents of physical media by using a software program to encrypt the drive in its entirety.

Devices and Media Requiring Encryption:

Encryption is required for all laptops, workstations, and portable drives that may be used to store or access °µÍø½ûÇøChicago's Protected data. Encryption is recommended for all laptops, workstations, and portable drives that may be used to store or access °µÍø½ûÇøChicago's Sensitive data. ITS will provide, install, configure, and support encryption where it is needed. Obtaining Encryption:

ITS will install software that is capable of encrypting the entire hard drive on all identified °µÍø½ûÇøChicago computers and electronic devices subject to policy. Users who require encryption software should contact the ITS Help Desk to arrange for the installation of encryption software.
